New name, who dis? The modern adage seems appropriate for Sportman’s Junction right now, so we want to clear the air before there is too much confusion.
Westbound Soul started as a hobby, born largely out of a tiredness for city life and an abundance of discontent toward a past job. It was the perfect distraction, allowing me to try something new, learn the ins and outs of building a brand from scratch, and post about subjects I am passionate about. As I started to get the hang of it, the brand began to grow and I was on my way to discovering my niche.
Along the way I met some like-minded guys, who had similar blogs, hobbies, and interests. We became friends and often talked about working together someday to “do better” than other content creators on these subjects. We shared tons of beers, cups of coffee, stories, and ideas as we went from internet acquaintances to real life friends.
That all led to where we are now – a new brand, a clearer direction, and a plan for growing our content base. We decided it was time for Texas Sportsmen to have a place for top-shelf sports & outdoors content and recipes. Our goal is to provide a better online experience, more relevant articles, and more genuine interactions as we share our passion for hunting, fishing, cooking, and gear with our readers.
Why “Sportsman’s Junction”?
We’re a group of sportsmen, who at one point were mostly strangers, that have banded together to share our love for the outdoors. In a lot of ways, that’s what this website is about – joining together. So that’s why junction seemed fitting, since it’s defined as such.

The name isn’t just about the four of us coming together. It’s also about bringing other people to The Junction, whether they be seasoned outdoorsmen or curious first timers. Our goal is to help foster a growth in the sportsmen community both outside and online.
