I’ve always wanted to get into bow hunting but have never really known where to start. Since my brother and I grew up exclusively gun hunting, there was no natural archery knowledge transfer like a lot of folks have. As a result I’ve never been able to convince myself to take the jump into the bow hunting world.
The itch to start flinging arrows recently got the best of me. So I reached out to my buddy Will AKA the_weekend_outdoorsman, who is the Archery Pro Shop manager at Sportsman’s Finest in Bee Cave. I explained the roadblocks that have kept me from getting a bow in the past. So he told me that he and the pro shop would get me set up.
Will assured me that he’d make sure I knew what I was getting and why. All of the accessories. The right arrows. An appropriate draw length and weight, as well as the tips and tricks he could pass on. His knowledge and experience, combined with the resources of Sportsman’s Finest would have me squared away.
The next few posts are going to cover my experience, as a total noob, being guided through the compound bow purchasing process by the badass folks at Sportsman’s Finest. Buckle up.
