If you’re reading this you’ve probably noticed the recent updates to the site. Many of these were long overdue in the name of making the experience on westboundsoul.com smoother and cleaner. The changes couldn’t have come at a better time, as this marks the 50th post since I started Westbound Soul at the end of last March.
It’s hard to believe I’ve managed 50 posts in less than a year, when it seems like I took a pretty long break from posting any new content. But here we are and I’m somehow averaging well over a post every week.
I’d like to point out the Shop section of the site and the first two, soon to be three, products featured there.
Custom Duck Band & Leather Lanyard
I’m hand crafting each one of these as they’re ordered. From stamping the metal band with whatever text/numbers you want, to shaping the band, cutting, and tying the lanyards. It’s all done with a hammer, mandrel, table clamp, and a lot of noise my wife doesn’t enjoy.
What’s the point? For one thing, duck bands are some of the most sought after trophies in the hunting world and these are the exact bands used to tag and track migratory game birds. So they’re pretty unique.
For another thing, I’m married and have been through all the hoops associated with marriage, including trying to find cool, unique, non-clique gifts for groomsmen. These are perfect for a custom touch on groomsmen gifts at a reasonable price. Or heck, they’re even perfect for commemorating an anniversary, birthday, or some other meaningful thing.
The lanyards are made with enough length that you can attach them to a knife, set of keys, or anything really without much trouble.

Westbound Soul T-Shirt
This is the same, high quality, soft, unisex crewneck tee from the original Bonfire campaign. The shirts are super comfortable and look great, so I decided not to go away from using Bonfire for those who want them.
So here’s the catch – when you visit this product on Westbound Soul, you’ll notice a View Campaign on Bonfire button. This will open the bonfire campaign in a new tab. From there you can purchase directly from Bonfire, who will handle tax, shipping, etc.
Will my shirt ship right away?
No, it will not. This time around Westbound Soul T-Shirt campaigns will run for seven days. After each campaign ends, any shirts that were ordered during that window will go to production and be shipped within a week.
Do you have to sell a minimum amount for a campaign to be successful?
No. Since the first campaign sold enough shirts, bonfire has removed the need for a minimum amount. This means that even if you’re the only person to order during a campaign, your shirt will still ship at campaign end.
But what if there’s no active campaign?
Bonfire is using what they call “smart launch” . This means that if there is currently no campaign running, a new order will signal the start of a new campaign.
