This is a topic I mention pretty often. I want to explain what it means to me in hopes that it will help anyone reading this understand why it’s a dominant motif in my writing.
“West of nowhere” is about freedom, solitude, peace of mind, and whatever other kind of escape you might want it to be. Sometimes it takes a little alone time down at the ranch for me to feel the stillness in my soul that I think of when I’m west of nowhere. Other times it’s a cold Lone Star in my hand on the back porch or at the beer joint near my office.
Not everyone has an opportunity to escape to the ranch, or the farm, or some isolated country hideout. Find your west of nowhere on the open road, sitting on the roof of your car, playing golf with a group of friends, or wherever it is that helps you calm down.
